高世强是近来中国当代艺术创作中出现的“学者型”艺术家之一。他的一系列作品,包括装置、摄影和实验电影,对现实的思考和体认较之同龄人显得更加广阔和复杂,并呈现出一定的系统性。他的近期作品摆脱了狭隘的意识形态纷争,把对中国历史文化的思考带到了一个新的高度。
董文胜的创作也是自由地穿梭于摄影、装置和实验电影之间,他通常利用中国传统文化的元素进行创作,作品风格斑斓腐朽,气息潮湿,充满诗意。长期以来,董文胜用视觉论述的方式,以跨越文化疆界的语言,致力关注传统文脉与当代社会全球化进程的纠缠、个体精神感知对现代化城市建设理念的对抗。作品同时亦涉及了时间、存在等哲学命题。
作为近年来最活跃的青年艺术家,高世强参加过包括“上海双年展”、“广州三年展”、“光州双年展”、“中国艺术三年展”在内的几乎亚洲所有最重要的双三年展;董文胜参加过纽约P.S.1当代艺术中心、维也纳美术馆、瓦伦西亚现代艺术博物馆等国际重要艺术机构的展览。
本次展览是两位艺术家在北京的首次大型个展,将展出艺术家创作的多件新作。

Gao Shiqiang is one of the recent “scholarly” artists in the field of Chinese contemporary art. Gao’s work, which includes installations, photographs and experimental films, carries a sense of broadness and complexity towards the reflection and bodily experience of daily life—such qualities are rarely found amongst his peers. His practice also hints at a systematic way of conceiving works. His recent pieces move away from the narrow confines of competing ways of thinking, and in turn, he brought a way of conceiving Chinese history and culture to new heights.
Dong Wensheng’s work also freely crisscrosses between installation, photography and experimental films. His work frequently includes elements of Chinese tradition with a strong link to characteristics related to the region of Jiangnan. His highly individualistic pieces often transpose the viewer into a paradoxical realm that hovers between the traditional past and the contemporary present; Dong is interested in infusing his spectators within a state of tragic psychological sadness.
Gao Shiqiang is an active young artist who has participated at numerous important Asian art exhibitions, such as the Shanghai Biennale, the Guangzhou Triennial, the Gwangju Biennale, and the Chinese Art Triennial Exhibition. Dong Wensheng has exhibited at a number of important international institutes, such as the P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center (New York), the Kunsthalle Wien (Vienna), and at the Institut Valencià d’Art Modern (Valencia).
This exhibition is their first solo shows in Beijing that also presents a number of their recent pieces.pieces.

布拉格双年展已经步入第四届,目前已在世界范围内将自身确立为最具活力和兴奋点的双年展之一。在捷克举办的布拉格双年展,尤其是其中的绘画单元已经成为国际艺术参考点。
第四届布拉格双年展(5月14日— 7月26日)将以前所未有的规模聚焦于来自世界各地的新兴绘画。本届双年展将推出常规展“绘画的边界与延伸”作为双年展的主展项目,以巨大的规模首次展出全世界范围年轻艺术家的作品。“绘画的边界与延伸”单元致力于发掘世界艺术的宽阔内涵,以及探讨绘画实践中的广泛交叉点。今年的双年展特别委任意大利策展人Cecilia Freschini联合伊比利亚当代艺术中心推出“中国盒子”作为唯一的中国项目参展。
策展人Cecilia Freschini策划的“中国盒子”为观众带来共十二位中国当代艺术家的绘画作品,展览以象征着中国智慧和创造力的“中国盒子”为标题,展现了策展人对中国当代绘画的剖析视角和理解方式:“‘中国盒子’是中国。‘中国盒子’是社会经济与艺术架构的基础。‘中国盒子’是欲望之盒,文化创造力、中国思想和理想封存其中。‘中国盒子’是回答。”

PRAGUEBIENNALE is already in its forth year. Having established itself as one of the most dynamic and interesting Biennale all around the world. This internationally acclaimed biennale in Czech Republic has become the international reference point, especially with regards to painting.
PRAGUEBIENNALE 4 (May 14 - July 26) is the biggest show focusing on young painting all around the world.PRAGUEBIENNALE 4, as usually will present EXPANDED PAINTING, as the main project in the Biennal program. This is the hugest selection of the today young artists never been shown during an art biennale. Expanded Painting is dedicated to painting from all over the world with all its diverse connotations and in all its diverse conjugations. This year PRAGUEBIENNALE is proud to present the new section: “China Box”, featuring contemporary painting from China.
The curator Cecilia Freschini has introduced to this edition new contemporary paintings by twelve artists from China. The project is entitled “China box”, which is a symbol of Chinese philosophy, wisdom and creativity. “China box” is a show that communicates to the audience how an independent curator beholds and understands Chinese contemporary painting today: “‘China box’ is China. ‘China box’ is the basement of the social, economic and artistic structure. ‘China box’ is the weft, a desires’ pix in which are hedged in ideals, thoughts and cultural creativity. ‘China box’ is the answer.”

我们非常荣幸的邀请您参加2009年6月13日下午3点由伊比利亚当代艺术中心和挪威Porsgrunn Art Society共同举办的联合项目:它们由两个个展组成,一个是来自挪威的艺术家奥利•约翰•安达尔的“构建资本主义社会的灵魂”,另一个是来自中国的艺术家组合李郁、刘波的“狗年13个月”。
通过与国外艺术机构密切和有效的合作向中国介绍西方的当代艺术,同时向欧洲或西方推介中国年轻的当代艺术,这是伊比利亚当代艺术中心秉持的基本理念和工作方向之一,我们热切的希望伊比利亚当代艺术中心能够成为中西方艺术增进彼此沟通与了解的一个平台。也许通过本次并置式的展览,我们能够了解艺术家们是如何选择通过摄影这样一个共同的技术手段,来呈现各自于不同地理境域中迥异或者是相似的发现。
“狗年13个月”是两位武汉艺术家李郁和刘波的系列摄影作品,其创作灵感源自当地几家重要报纸的社会新闻报道。李郁和刘波在艺术创作中观察现实世界,利用媒介自身以及仿照舞台摄影风格拍摄出的场景颇有几分用类似肥皂剧般的录像作品来诠释现实。
早在1998年,两位艺术家就围绕刘波关于伤害和暴力的想法以及暴力在艺术史中的表征等概念开始了合作,随后他们的创作与李郁在现实生活的新闻故事基础上进行艺术虚构的兴趣进一步相结合。他们对新闻故事的复现以一种充满人性的方式挫败了新闻媒介,那些如同明信片的美景所描绘和闪现的是生死、爱恨、谋杀与癫狂、复仇、正义与暴力、社会变迁以及信仰的沦丧。
“少作——构建资本主义社会的灵魂” 自由主义市场经济让全球的商业公司得以通过新闻媒体和广告活动中的光鲜图像和视觉修辞来改变我们思维和感受的方式。艺术家奥利•约翰•安达尔对这种图像轰炸带来的噪音干扰心存忧虑,同时担心它们对正处于自我身份形成早期阶段的青少年会造成影响,于是新生的MMS(多媒体短信服务Multimedia Messaging Service)现象激发了他的兴趣。这些使用手机和电脑摄像头拍摄的低像素图片能通过因特网迅速发送到其它手机和电脑上。
大人将此视为电信公司让人掏钱的促销伎俩,然而青少年们却把它看作与同龄人和外界直接沟通的新方式而欣然接受。“少作”是来自新媒体世界的年轻人的声音,在这里,人人都是艺术家,一切想象都是真的。

IIberia Center for Contemporary Art, in collaboration with Porsgrunn Art Society from Norway proudly invite you to our joint project, which is comprised of two exhibitions: JUVENILIA – CONSTRUCTING A SOUL IN CAPITALIST SOCIETIES featuring Norwegian artist Ole John Aandal, and 13 MONTH IN THE YEAR OF THE DOG showcasing the Chinese artist duo Li Yu & Liu Bo.
Iberia Center for Contemporary Art has taken the expansion of a close and effective working relationship with art organizations worldwide as its basic principle and an important orientation, to introduce westerm contemporary art to China and to present young Chinese contemporary artists to Europe or the West at large. Hopefully, the Center will grow into a platform supporting and facilitating the mutual exchange and communication between art worlds of the East and the West. Perhaps, the present parallel exhibitions will serve as a real opportunity for the audience to discover how artists employ the same media of photography to present differences or similarities rooted in different geographic spaces.
“13 months in the year of the dog” by Li Yu and Liu Bo, both from Wuhan city, is an ongoing photographic series, inspired by social reportages from several local big newspapers.
In their work, Yu and Bo observe reality, interpreting it via the media itself and in a movie like staged photographic fashion, not very unlike scenes from soap operas. The artists started their collaboration back in 1998, based on Bo`s thoughts around harm and violence, and representation of violence in art history. This was then combined with Yu`s interest for news stories from everyday life as basis for artistic fabrication. Their reproduction of news stories is a humane way of defeating press media, through postcard like and beautiful sceneries, depicting glimpses of life, death, hate, murder and insanity, revenge, justice and violence, social change and the loss of religion.
JUVENILIA - CONSTRUCTING A SOUL IN CAPITALIST SOCIETIES Market liberalism allows global companies to change the way we think and feel by the use of glossy photography and visual rhetoric in news media and advertising campaigns. Worrying about the sheer noise created by this image bombardment, and its effect on adolescence in the early stages of forming their identities, Ole John Aandal was intrigued by the new phenomenon MMS; these low-resolution photographs taken with cameras in cell phones or computers, easily distributed to other phones or computers throughout the Internet. As adults tended to dismiss it as another marketing trick by the telephone companies to wring our pockets, teenagers have embraced it as a new and immediate way of communicating with their peers and the world at large.
JUVENILIA is the voice of teenagers in a new media world where everybody is an artist and everything you can imagine is real.

“后资本文献1989-2001”是西班牙艺术家丹尼埃尔·加西亚·安杜哈参加2009年威尼斯双年展的项目;德国斯图加特Württembergischer Kunstverein艺术馆也曾在2008年11月22日至2009年1月18日展出了此项目。
“后资本文献1989-2001”是由丹尼埃尔·加西亚·安杜哈构思的一个多媒体项目,其中包括了多媒体装置、布景、开放数据库、工作坊等,所有作品都来源于艺术家在十多年的艺术创作过程中收集自因特网的超过25万的文献资料,其中包括出版物片段、影像、图书馆资料、音频与图像。
“后资本”思考中包括了在过去的二十年里全球范围内社会、政治、经济与文化领域的一系列深远变革,其分水岭即为1989年柏林墙的倒塌、2001年的“9-11”事件。在此安杜哈把“柏林墙倒塌”之后的事件看作后资本主义,而非后共产主义的方方面面。这儿要提出的问题是,资本社会在它们曾经的对立物消失后在何种程度上发生了变化,同时在1989-2001年间又有哪些新的“墙”在国际政治中被树立起来?英语中的后资本“postcapital”一词可同时指涉金融资本与首都城市。因此,此项目也同时探讨资本社会的种种变革与其城市化力量移动的轨迹。
艺术家简介:丹尼埃尔·G·安杜哈 1966年出生,现居住、工作于巴塞罗纳。作为多媒体艺术家,他在80年代后期开始使用进行视频艺术创作。作为Irrational.org (international reference point for art on the web)的成员之一,他在1996年开始了“人类技术”(TTTP)项目,在互联网、及实体媒介两方面发展(展览、装置、光盘…)。研究多种概念诸如模拟、真实性、版权、市场战略、媒介与力量间的关系、以及技术交流网络的全球化使用等等,此外还有在公共场所就种族歧视、排外等主题创作介入艺术,探讨监视系统技术的滥用……
艺术家作为Irrational.org网站的长期成员和技术为人民的创办者,他创造了大量基于互联网的项目,比如art-net-dortmund,e-barcelona.org, e-valencia.org, e-seoul.org, e-wac.org, e-sevilla.org, Materiales de artista等。同时,他也在很多国家指导了大量面向艺术家和社会团体的工作坊。 他的作品及项目在西班牙国内外许多地方展出,其中包括:2006年PhotoEspaña(摄影西班牙)、2001年柏林国际跨媒体艺术节(Transmediale)、巴黎蓬皮杜中心、2000年香港微波国际新媒体艺术节、美国波特兰美术馆、1999年伦敦ICA当代艺术中心等。2009年他还将以“Postcapital. Archive 1989 - 2001”项目参加威尼斯双年展。
策展人简介:瓦伦丁·洛马 生于1970年,现居住、工作于巴塞罗纳。毕业于巴塞罗纳自治大学(UAB)哲学文学系艺术史专业,曾担任2009年威尼斯双年展加泰罗尼亚展厅策展人。

This exhibition is organized by Iberia Center for Contemporary Art, Beijing, China and Centro de Arte Tomás y Valiente, Fuenlabrada, Madrid, Spain (CEART).
Daniel García Andújar will present “Postcapital . Archive 1989 - 2001” at the Venice Biennale 2009. The project has been shown at Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart from 22 November 2008 to 18 January 2009, and will be part of the 53rd edition of the Venice Biennal.
The project—conceived, in equal measure, as multimedia installation, stage, open databank, and workshop—is founded on a digital archive comprised of over 250,000 documents (texts, audio files, videos, etc.) from the Internet compiled by the artist over the past ten years.
Postcapital revolves around the far-reaching changes having evolved worldwide in social, political, economic, and cultural realms over the last two decades, their watershed moments emblematized in the 1989 Fall of the Berlin Wall and the attacks on September 11, 2001. Here, Andújar views the developments subsequent to the “Fall of the Wall” not as aspects of postcommunism but rather of postcapitalism. Emerging here is the question as to what extent capitalist societies have changed in absence of their erstwhile counterparts and which new walls have been erected through the global politics following events of 1989 and 2001. The word ‘postcapital’ in English also denotes ‘financial capital’ and ‘capital city’. Thus, this project also touches on the reformulation of social forces in the process of urbanization in capitalist societies.
ARTIST INFO | DANIEL GARCÍA ANDÚJAR Born in Almoradí,1966. Currently works and lives in Barcelona. Daniel García Andújar uses irony and presentation strategies that employ new communication technologies to question the democratic and equalitarian promises of these media and criticize the desire for control lying behind their apparent transparency. Based on the confirmation that new information and communication technologies are transforming our everyday life, Daniel G. Andújar created a fiction (Technologies To The People, 1996) designed to make us increase our awareness of the reality around us and of the deception in promises of free choice that are converted, irremissibly, into new forms of control and inequality.
A long-time member of irrational.org (international reference point for art on the web) and founder of Technologies To The People, he is the creator of numerous projects on the Internet such as art-net-dortmund, e-barcelona.org, e-valencia.org, e-seoul.org, e-wac.org, e-sevilla.org, Materiales de artista, etc. He has directed numerous workshops for artists and social collectives in different countries.
CURATOR INFO | VALENTÍN ROMA Born in Sabadell, 1970. Currently works and lives in Barcelona. Graduated from Philosophy & Culture and Art History Department of UAB University in Barcelona of Spain. He is the curator of Catalonian exhibition hall at the Venice Biennal 2009.
