自述:
My resume until now do not contain any exhibitions that I participated on, simply because I did not make such attempt so far. It is much more important for me to do art that is springs from within my soul , than to persue a career by using my talent to produce contemporary art , which in general, I abhor. It is only now that I feel readt and confident to truly go out to the world with my artsitic creatin. my first public exhibition will hopefully take place as a result of a residency period that will allow me to fully concentrate on completing my current project.
Nevertheless , I have been productive since finishing my studies, in various artistic fields, which I will try to summarize here. Since only 10 images where requested, I had also included some links below, and I do hope the respected committee will be able the spare couple of minutes to view it.
My main endeavour in the recent years is the project seven phases of metamorphosis.
This is a series of seven sculptures, or rather sculptured vessels, that are integrated with flowing water, light and also fire in two of them.
I have made a short introduction movie that explains this work, I heartedly recommend you to watch it, it is very interesting stuff! and it will be much less appiling to write about it here..! Here is a link :(actual sculptures from 5:10).
This project is not finished yet. It will take me considerably long time to finish , therefore it was set aside for a while to promote other project which I would like to finish and exibit.
except of this work, I have been working with light fixtures, and developed some comercial lighting fixtures, under the brand name studio mimesis (www.studiomimesis.com).
I love exploring and integrating different mediums and elements into a single constalation art. But , unlike many other artist that do the same in this aspect, I put emphasis on two things : I avoid doing art that is mainly conceptual, that is , speaks mainly to the intellect. And second, I put emphasis on creating activness in the viewer. You see, it is my conviction , that technology, and mainly screens , create great passivness in us. Therefore I try to be very carefull in choosing the mediums that I work with, so that total work will stimulate activness in the viewer, and not of the intellectual kind only.
This is also the case with my current project, that I would like to work on in the residency time in china, if I will be given the opprtunity.
It is a rather large installation , consist of three main elements.
on the right and left – two sculptural elements, which are glowing, each element in it’s unique way. The element on the right, which looks a bit like a relief, is covered with photos of a factory. It is a threading factory, which makes nylon thread for woman stockings. I worked there and took this images . The subject of sensuality, and it’s connection ,in this case, with the mechanical sphere and industrial production,as the main theme,in this work. I investigate it spiritually, and there is apparent aspect of symbolism in this instalation. . In the middle – a large painting , that can be depicted as the projection of this two polar elements into the one human being, and of course from this projection the viewer can exipienc something about his/her own self. It is another thing that I keen to investigate – the relationships between two and three dimensions.
The images titled ’Nilit’ (as the name of the factory) showing stages in the artistic realisation.
This work will be three times larger than the photos, and will be around 4 meters high on 12 -14 meters width. . The geometric shpae that the figure s sitting on called “chestahedron”, it was discovered by Franck Chester in the year 2000. it have profound meaning in itself and in the setting of this artwork. Much more can be said about this work , but as henry moore, the great sculpturer ,once said : “an artist shouln’t talk to often about his art. It releases tensions that are needed for his work”.
Most of the work on the sculptural elements of this work is done. In the residency I would like to concentrate on the painting that this elemnts merge into.
. There is yet another project that I would like to advance while in residency. It is more easy going and would ’spice’ this rather intimidating task of painting so large and mainly abstract painting. It will be a series of paintings , and maybe also drawings, on the theme of girls and smartphones. Or , should I say, the specific unique activity between the feminie nature, the one that can also be considered as musing of artists, and screens in general, specificly smartphones. I am going to concentrate on the plain visual aspects of the matter, in my own way. Its going to be a lot of fun, hope you will pick me to join.
